Bury The Lede Dessa, the rapper, singer, writer, academic, and all-around polymath, will be releasing her first solo full-length album in five years, titled “Bury the Lede,” on September 29th, 2023, through Doomtree Records. This eleven-track project features hard-hitting rap verses, catchy pop hooks, and a touch of melancholy. Dessa, known for her diverse interests in anthropology and psychology, drew inspiration from human nature and mortality for this album. With a blend of pleasure-seeking and loss-aversion themes, “Bury the Lede” offers a unique perspective on life, encouraging a hedonistic approach amidst life’s uncertainties. The album showcases Dessa’s signature lyrical style – writerly, multi-layered, and meticulous. Co-executive produced by her longtime collaborators Lazerbeak (Doomtree, Lizzo) and Andy Thompson (Taylor Swift, Dan Wilson), the album fuses indie-rock, soul, and Swedish-pop influences into Dessa’s rap, resulting in a cohesive yet diverse musical journey. Get ready to experience Dessa’s latest creation that promises moments of levity, danceability, and introspection, making it a standout addition to her discography.
