Firestarter (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) The horror master John Carpenter is back with his Halloween franchise collaborators Daniel Davies and Cody Carpenter for their infectious new soundtrack to the 2022 adaptation of Stephen King’s Firestarter. This marks the first official soundtrack that the team has composed together outside of the Halloween franchise, showcasing their inspiration and evolution as a creative team.
The film offers a fresh take on the thriller genre, exploring the story of a girl with extraordinary pyrokinetic powers and her battle to protect her family and herself from sinister forces aiming to capture and control her. Scheduled for theatrical release on May 13th, 2022, the movie stars Zac Efron, Sydney Lemmon, and Ryan Kiera, directed by Keith Thomas (The Vigil) and produced by the creators of The Invisible Man. The narrative has achieved classic status, with its intense nature providing a compelling backdrop for a dynamic soundtrack.
The Firestarter soundtrack draws on the best elements of Carpenter’s renowned musical repertoire while venturing into exciting new territory. The album features a range of tracks, from fist-pumping sci-fi anthems to slow, reverb-drenched piano ballads, each employing a variety of sonic applications. With skulking beats, skittering synths, crushing guitars, and an ever-present echo, the soundtrack creates an atmospheric and deeply melodic experience that is both cohesive and eclectic. These three musicians are at the peak of their individual and collaborative creativity, solidifying their status as masters of the craft.
