L’ultimo Treno Della Notte
“L’Ultimo Treno della Notte” (Last Stop on the Night Train) is a 1975 thriller film directed by Aldo Lado. Considered one of the most violent movies produced in Italy during the ’70s, the film is a harsh critique of bourgeois society and its affluent members. Despite budget constraints, the collaboration between Aldo Lado and composer Ennio Morricone resulted in a limited release of a 45rpm 7″ vinyl featuring the songs “Coincidenze” and a ‘medley’ version of the theme track accompanied by the sound of train wheels on tracks. Additionally, the song “A Flower’s All You Need,” performed by Demis Roussos of Aphrodite’s Child, was included in a rare Japanese single. This exclusive edition of Morricone’s soundtrack includes these tracks along with various versions of the film’s main theme, characterized by tense middle sections, rhythmic patterns, and echoes reminiscent of the iconic theme from “Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion.” The composition of “Coincidenze” evokes the atmosphere of classic Italian police films, while the “Solitudine” theme introduces melancholic undertones. Franco de Gemini’s harmonica further enhances the film’s western-inspired modern setting. This exceptional work by the Maestro is now available for the first time on yellow colored vinyl, enclosed in a gatefold cover.
